What did you set out to achieve? To illustrate photorealistic vector files of each glove and garment for the 2012 Columbia Catalog, overseas manufacturing, and vendor documentation.
How did you achieve that goal? Time management and communication were key. Because of the considerable workload and tight deadline I constantly had to make sure I was always working on the most important piece. Moreover, checking in with my peers regularly helped me gauge my workload and plan accordingly.
What challenges did you face? Rendering three-dimensional products in Illustrator is always a challenge. I constantly had to revise and iterate on my process in order to get just the right look.
If you could go back, what would you change? I was designing these before Illustrator had variable stroke widths. I’d love to go back and re-illustrate them keeping the lines as strokes instead of expanding them. It’s one of my favorite features in the new versions of Illustrator.
